About Us
Jim Marshall, Broker
I have lived most of my life in the Parry Sound area and grew up on Whitefish Lake, in what's now Seguin Township. My family operated Marshall Construction and I spent most summers as a teenager installing septic beds and backfilling basements for cottage owners throughout the area. Through this time in my early years, I started, quite inadvertently, to build connections with people that I still call friends and clients.
When I started selling real estate in 1985, I already had an excellent familiarity of the area lakes and extensive connections with both the seasonal and year round populations. My knowledge of the area is extensive: odds are that I know where one can launch a boat or suggest good fishing spots on several of the area lakes.
Twenty-three years later, I'm happily married with three teenage sons and live in Parry Sound. Even though I'm always busy with my real estate practice, I always manage to take time to spend with the family. The kids keep both Kim and myself very busy with the myriad of activities they're involved in.
In addition, I'm a Past President of the Parry Sound Real Estate Board, and am a Director of the Canadian Real Estate Assocation's (CREA) MTC Commitee.
I have several other interests outside of my real estate career. Music has always been one of my passions and I have played piano and guitar with local bands. Gardening, fishing and astronomy are also hobbies I enjoy, and I'm a lifelong diehard Leafs fan.

Although I was born and raised in the town of Parry Sound, I spent the first 18 years of my adult life living and working in Barrie. I returned to my hometown a few years ago to be closer to my parents as they get on in years. Throughout my childhood I was blessed to spend my summers on Georgian Bay, at our cottage near Sans Souci Island.
I started to work with Jim in July of 2006 as an unlicensed assistant and immediately discovered an instinctive understanding of the real estate business. As I worked in the background helping to grow Jim's business to where it is today, it started to become apparent that he needed someone licensed to help take care of the number of buyers we were servicing. The logical step was for me to get my real estate license, a process which I completed in March of 2008.
Although I continue to provide back office support to Jim and his clients, the scope of my day-to-day activities also includes residential and recreational sales, focusing on buyers. I am also a Director with our local Real Estate Board.
When not in the office, I am kept very busy with my partner, John, our ten children and their various activities. Our time is split between finishing work on my home in Humphrey and his farm in Magnetawan. I am also very involved with Humphrey School Council, and the Stockey Centre here in Parry Sound.

Born in the Parry Sound area, I spent the majority of my youth in the GTA with family vacations back up in "Cottage Country". Spending the dog days of summer fishing, hiking & cannon-balling off the dock, I have always had an appreciation for the natural environment so prevalent in the area.
Together with my wife & three kids, I moved back into the Parry Sound area in 2001, choosing the Georgian Bay area for all that it has to offer...the beaches, the trails, the lakes, and the natural wonder of the 30,000 islands. In the end, it was the small town charm that the Parry Sound community is so rich in that made this the place I once again call home. Coming back was one of the best decisions I have ever made!
I am an individual who has dedicated my life to providing optimal customer service...This attitude comes from 16 years working in the hospitality field at such places as The Banff Springs Hotel & Chateau Lake Louise in the Canadian Rockies, where professionalism is paramount and results are key. This for me was perfect training for my real estate career. After all, the mindset is the same... Work Hard, Listen Well & Exceed Expectations!
My career in Real Estate started in February of 2007, joining Re/Max and the Marshall Team in early 2010. Along the way I have gained a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the finer points of the real estate industry. Becoming a Director for the Parry Sound Real Estate Board has allowed me to both further my horizons and to give back to the community. Touring with clients and selling lakefront cottages and homes in and around Parry Sound, we often get see wildlife along the way...deer is frequent but the occasional beaver or moose is much more entertaining!
When not assisting clients I focus hard on family life...with a wife and three kids "balance in life" is very important. At that, I follow the same credo I learned out West... Work Hard (and Play Hard), Listen Well & Exceed Expectations!
